Social Media Helpdesk: How do I Keep People from Un-Liking my Facebook Page?
About 6 months after creating a Facebook Company page, something strange may start to happen. For no apparent reason, users are starting to UN-like your page! Even though you’re posting dynamic, original content, asking open-ended questions, and seeking feedback from fans, you’ve noticed that your community is growing smaller, not larger.
What can a small-to-midsize company do? Below are some best practices from the social media managers.
Host a Contest. Give away something small but fun, like a $100 gift card for tickets to a live show. Then promote the contest on all social media platforms with a tagline like “Spread the word! Like our Facebook page for a chance to win a $100 gift card.”
Post More Pictures. No matter your industry, Facebook remains a visual place. Post pictures of trade shows, company parties and products to engage your community. Feeling creative? Try a simple “caption this” photo post. Broadcast a cute or funny picture and simply ask your audience for caption ideas.
Poll Your Fans. Stumped for ideas about content? Ask your community for ideas. Not only will this speed up engagement, but you’ll also gain a better understanding of what your fans want to see.
Offer Random Acts of Kindness. Show you care by asking fans, “How is your day going?” or “What are your plans for the weekend?” Sharing is caring, so be sure to tell your fans what you are up to as well.
A stagnant or shrinking Facebook community happens to even the best of social media managers. Help customers stick around your community by getting creative, asking for audience feedback and showing that you care.
